Fried Ice Cream

Hello cuties!

Have a lot of ice cream stock at home and fed up of eating it *i mean i'm sure, it'll be hard to be bored with ice cream!* just like that? Here's another way to eat your lovely ice cream ♥

don't have corn flakes on hand, use bread crumbs instead ;)

Ingredients :
1 quart (950 ml) ice cream
2 1/2 cups (120 grams) corn flakes
3/4 cup (70 grams) shredded coconut
1 tsp cinnamon powder
2 eggs
1 tbsp milk
1 1/2 cups (350 ml) vegetable oil
8 tsp honey

Method :
1. Using the scoop or two spoons, make 8 1/2-cup scoops ice cream.
2. Drop the scoops of ice cream onto a tray lined with waxed paper, freeze for about 1 hour.
3. Meanwhile, in a plastic bag crush the corn flakes, then add the coconut and cinnamon, combine nicely.
4. Place the coating ingredients in a shallow bowl.
5. In a plate, whisk the eggs with milk for about 1 minute.
6. Remove the ice cream scoops from the freezer and roll them first in the dry coating.
7. Then roll in the egg mixture, and finally roll in the dry coating mixture again.
8. Place on a tray or plate lined with waxed paper and return to the freezer for at least 3 hours.
9. In a small saucepan, heat the oil until medium-hot (about 360 °F – 200 °C).
10. Removing the ice cream scoops from the freezer one at a time, drop them into the hot oil and fry for 20-25 seconds, turning them halfway through.
11. Then remove the scoops from the oil and place them on paper towels to absorb the grease.
12. Drizzle each scoop with one teaspoon honey and serve immediately.

It's wonderfully delicious! I love the combination of coconut and cinnamon, who knows it will be perfectly match with chocolate ice cream? And please, don't forget to add honey as it give a magical taste to it ♥

Enjoy ♥

Julia ♥

Coconut Tarts

Hello cute tartlets! ♥

Living in another country is a good way to know more about them, in my case, food. I spend quite a time in Malaysia for my study and I started to know more delicious things for my tongue to taste. *gaining weight is worth it, i think* What I eternally love is coconut tart and portuguese tart. Once you take a single bite, both are so adorably magical, believe me.

Because I have some ready-to-use puff pastry in my freezer, I decided to use it and it's really good! Oh, who doesn't love it?

Ingredients:
Adequate amount of puff pastry
½ cup (125gr) butter, soften
½ cup (115gr) sugar
2 eggs
½ cup (60 gr) cake flour (you can substitute with 50gr all purpose flour+10gr cornstarch)
1 cup fresh grated coconut (I use 1cup or 93gr desiccated coconut)
¼ cup (60 ml) milk
1 tsp baking powder

Method:
1. Beat butter and sugar until white and fluffy.
2. Add in egg, one at a time
3. Sift in flour and baking powder.
4. Add in designated coconut and mix well.
5. Thaw the puff pastry. I cut them into squares, lightly press it with fingers on the tart tin and fold in the corners.
7. Pour egg mixture into each tart shell. Be careful not to over pour.
8. Preheat oven 190C and bake for 30 minutes or until the tart shell edges are golden brown.
9. Overturn the egg tarts and enjoy :D

Happy Birthday, Mom ♥

Hello people :D

Today, 28 August, is my beloved mom's birthday. So yesterday I did another paper quilling! xD

Still with the same 130 gsm papers, but I cut it into 1cm strips instead of 4mm. I just thought thicker paper will make it cuter, and YES IT IS.

I love making swirls, I use A LOT and I love it

I messed the inside part a bit, especially the 'O' letter. Just act like you didn't see, please...

That's my quick post for today! See you next time ♥

With love,
Julia ♥

Hi people!

Another post, at last! I've finished my exam and came back to my hometown for holiday last Sunday. ;)

Today is my dad and little brother's birthday. Yes, both of them share the same birthday and I always think it's cute. ♥

We have an early celebration for them last Sunday and Mom bought a pretty rainbow cake. I love it so much and I know I'll love it more if it was made by me!

bought at Ligo Bakery, each layer has its own taste :D

We bought a school bag for my brother and for Dad, I did something fun : paper quilling! This is my first quilling and I had so much fun!

I didn't use that ready-to-use quilling paper and I bought 130 gsm color paper instead. I cut it to 4mm width paper strips and it's just perfect. After all the gathering ideas from my sisters, measuring, cutting, and writing some words, I put the outline. I had a little hard time shaping the paper, maybe a heavier paper will make life easier. But I love 130 gsm paper for the design inside.

Done a letter here. I tell you, use white glue, my friend. It will be invisible after it dries although you've poured a bunch of glue on it.

Okay.

Just kidding.

I've never poured the glue so I have no idea whether it will be invisible or not. But I used quite a lot of glue and nobody can see it, I assure you. ;)

I didn't buy special tools for this. I just roll it without paper piercing tool. To roll the paper easier, I soften the tip of the paper by sliding my thumb and index finger on it several times. And to help me to put the paper in place on the base, I used any tweezer available at home.

Eyebrow tweezer, for instance.

What a multi-function thing, isn't it?

I mean, maybe you will need those cool tools one day, but for this simple project, I prefer this method. :D

Paper quilling requires time and patient. So find your free time, brew a cup of tea *for me, snack is crucial*, turn on the music, and have a lovely time with the papers!

Done! ♥

Hope he likes it.

Happy birthday, Dad and lil' bro! ♥

Julia ♥

Time to Chill & Relax

Hi there!

It is been quite a while since my last post, now at last I can have a full-day free without any activity! Isn't it the best thing ever?? I woke up quite early today and finish 3/4 of my assignment. Then I enjoyed a cup of green tea while drawing this. At last, it's time to chill & relax, people!

I use vandyke brown as the base and some yellow ochre on top. Accidentally, I dripped a dot of yellow ochre on the paper! I was like 'Okay, what should I do now' and I decided to drip more dots. I realized that it turned out quite good. xD

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday too!

Julia

Charles & Keith Purse

Recently my adorable friend, Sally, bought this cute little purse for herself and yesterday she kept asking me to buy one too. Most of the time we always have the same interest in a lot of things, and it happened again, I couldn't help myself to have that cute purse once she asked me. And so we went to Sunway Pyramid Mall to get one~

There's a sale at the store and I got 20% discount! *yay* They have green, red, and brown color. I love the colors and the design, of course! It's absolutely worth buying ♥ ;)

My First Painting

Recently I am in love with painting so much and days ago I couldn't help myself picking painting stuff randomly (randomly, i tell you). Yes, I have no idea which one to choose as I don't have any knowledge about it at all. This passion really brought me this far, huh...

So, this morning I tried it out and here it is, my very first painting! :D

There's still a lot to learn!

Confirmation Card Gift

Yes, it is another gift from our beloved friend, Annie Ling!
Isn't she a gorgeous card-maker? xD

I was confirmed in St. Thomas More Church last easter and I chose 'Philomena', a patron saint of youth, as my confirmation name. :D

Saint Philomena is venerated as a virgin martyr saint of the Catholic Church, said to have been a young Greek princess martyred in the 4th century. Her name "Filumena" meant "daughter of light". (It is usually taken to be derived from a Greek word meaning "beloved"). (wiki)

Easter Bookmark Gift

Hi again! :D

It's been a month I'm here in Kuala Lumpur and kind of busy with all of the things.

So yes, I'm here again today to show you what I was given last Easter day, a pretty adorable hand-made bookmark from Annie Ling~

I knew her when I join the 11.30 am choir in STM church. She's so modest and friendly, I adore her and all of her works, creative and simply amazing. ;)
Do visit her by clicking here

Okay, short one as always ;)

Dachshunds (weight up to 11 pounds, height 5 - 7 inches) may look cute and cuddly, but they are tirelessly energetic, clever and curious—some might even say “intense.” Always up for a walk or a game in the park, they can easily get bored when left to their own devices for too long. Sometimes, that can involve chewing things. It's an ideal breed for singles, city dwellers, and families with older children. Trademark traits : tenacious and high-spirited, bold and clever, lovable, loyal. (dogster.com)

Oh, how I love his cute short legs! ♥

Donut Muffins

Hello! :D

A recipe from allrecipes.com.

At first I was curious how the texture of the muffins will be. Will it be really like donuts or definitely muffins?

So let just start! ;)

Bahan :
100 gram gula pasir
60 gram margarin
3/4 sdm pala bubuk
120 ml susu
1 sdt baking powder
140 gram tepung terigu

Coating :
60 gram margarin, cairkan
70 gram gula pasir, haluskan bila terlalu kasar + 1 sdt bubuk kayu manis

Cara :
1. Campur gula, margarin, pala bubuk, susu, baking powder, dan tepung hingga rata.

yes, you may look closer ;)

Muffin's texture and donut's taste, I say. I love how the ground nutmeg did the magic! And, isn't it super easy to make? :D

By the way, from the picture you can tell that the sugar I used was too coarse, made the muffins a bit too sweet. I promise I will be smart next time and grind it. ;)

Hello! :D

The Miniature Schnauzer ( height:30-36cm, weight: 5-7kg ) is a breed of small dog of the Schnauzer type that originated in Germany in the mid-to-late 19th century. It is an intelligent, loving, happy dog. They are energetic, playful and get along well with children and like to be with their people. Affectionate, keen, devoted and docile. (dogbreedinfo.com)

So, now I decided to some changes for the eyes and nose.

Yes, no grayish color anymore! :D *yay* I used cotton thread and I have to say, it needs more energy to do because it's so thin. It's quite better, though.

Hello! :D

So today I finished this and simply love it! Well, except the red mushroom she's holding and the grayish big nose and eyes I made. Don't know why I always end up making a big big eyes like that...

For your information, this red mushroom is an Amanita Muscaria species and commonly known as fly agaric or fly amanita. :D

Hello, bunnies! ♥

Yesterday I finished another little friend, Little Bunny and his yellow carrot. Yes, I chose yellow, not because I have a particular reason, but because I don't have any orange color yarn. I wonder if there's another alternative color for carrot and I found this!

todayifoundout.com

I know, it's so pretty. ♥

I always have difficulties in giving my little friend eyes or nose, or when attaching their body parts, it's so troublesome, so please excuse the messy parts of him. But as always, I enjoy it so much. Just think it's like a magic when you turn a ball of yarn to be something cute like this. :D

Song of The Day - L-O-V-E

Hello! :D

Recently I love to listen to Olivia Ong's songs. She has a sweet voice, makes me can't stop listening to her songs! xD

L-O-V-E is one of the song that I love so bad.

"L-O-V-E" is a jazz song written by Bert Kaempfert and Milt Gabler for American singer-pianist Nat King Cole's 1965 album L-O-V-E (the last album released before Cole's death on February 15, 1965). (wiki)

And so, after read that in wikipedia, I immediately checked Nat King Cole's version and it was great! ♥ I became his fan right away!

By the way, this one is Olivia's version. =)

Paper Roses

And so for last Valentine's Day, I decided to make something pretty to spend my days before valentine. That was a week before the day and I felt so sinful if I have to spend it by sitting in front of my laptop all days.

It's so easy to make *although i hurt my fingers the whole day because of the thick paper i used*. I made a bunch of it and it look gorgeous. :D
